Things To Do
Activities you can do during your free time before, during, or after the wedding weekend.
On Guemes Island:
Hike Guemes Mountain
Trailhead: 6464 S Shore Rd, Anacortes, WA 98221
This is a beautiful, short, and steep-ish hike on the island. Just 1.2 miles to the top, and the view of the San Juan islands is amazing! Highly recommend doing any day during free time or on Monday before heading out.
Guemes Island Resort Amenities
The resort will provide some kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes to play in. If you are driving and have a boat or SUP, please bring it! There’s also a sauna onsite, the ocean for cold plunging, and more.
Guemes Island General Store
7885 Guemes Island Road, Anacortes, WA 98221
The only retail store on Guemes Island, and your source for farm-to-table food, groceries, and beverages.
Anacortes and Around:
Walk Around Downtown Anacortes
Got time in Anacortes? Anacortes is a cute seaside town, and the launch point to Guemes Island. There are many fun restaurants, bars, and shops in Anacortes. If you have downtime in Anacortes, walking around the downtown area is a nice activity.
Go Whale Watching
The San Juan Islands are one of the world's best places to spot whales, including orcas, humpbacks, minkes, and gray whales. There are several tour companies in Anacortes that can take you to see them!
Explore the San Juan Islands
Guemes Island is just one of several beautiful islands in the San Juan Islands. If you have an extra day or two, you consider using Anacortes as your jumping off point to explore another island (such as Tayler’s favorite, Orcas Island). If you plan to do this, please note that you may need to reserve your ferry a few weeks in advance.
Deception Pass State Park
Deception Pass, WA
Deception Pass State Park is about ~15 minutes from Anacortes. It has a really high bridge you can walk on as well as beautiful hiking trails and beaches spanning across almost 4,000 acres.
